Tatting is a knotted lace made using a shuttle or needle. Currently tatting is experiencing a period of technical and artistic innovation. It is a portable craft that uses generally inexpensive tools and material and is a good fit for our busy lives as it can be picked up at a free moment and put aside with no risk the work will unravel. The goal of this workshop is to teach the basic skills of tatting so that the participants will be able to complete simple patterns on their own. Registration limited to 10 participants in order to ensure quality instruction. A kit of supplies is included with registration ($20 value).

RespiCon: Respiratory Support Inventors' Conference
Join us May 28th starting at 8:00 AM PST for a free, 4-hour virtual mini-conference on technology and policy of free-libre open-source mechanical respiration support and oxygen support, specifically in the context of COVID-19.
The conferences will have two CONSECUTIVE (not concurrent) tracks. The first track will feature demos and technical discussions aimed at the maker, engineer, and inventors, but is sure to be interesting to policymakers.
The second track starts at 10:00am PST and features policy discussions, first-hand accounts, and panels of informed experts to help us all understand how to address the global pandemic as effectively as possible.
We believe both tracks will be interesting to most participants so we have organized them consecutively so that everyone can hear every talk if they wish.
The conference is dedicated to the long-term relief of the COVID-19 crisis in India.
In order to create a community and make connections, we will have a concurrent room implemented with software from "Social Hour" where you can chill out and get to meet the speakers after their talks. Areas will be dedicated to specific topics, such as mechanical ventilation, oxygen concentration, field deployment, and fundraising.

Maker Campus - Intro to Live-Streaming
Ever wanted to host a live stream? Learn the skills to take your streaming to the next level through OBS Studio and Ecamm Live with Airigami's Larry Moss.
Zoom and Meet have become the norm for classes and gatherings these days. Often, the limited functionality of conferencing software doesn’t go far enough to help you get your ideas across and hold the attention of your audience. Dedicated livestream software lets you build scenes, share media, and truly present creatively on platforms your audience already uses like YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Zoom, and anything else that let’s you plug in a virtual camera. In exploring the packages available and techniques used to lead sessions from classes to family gatherings, we’ll build an interactive quiz show, suitable for a small group of friends. Once you’ve mastered the concepts used to make a fast-paced quiz, you’ll understand how to apply all of this to future classes and presentations that you offer on your own YouTube channel or here through Maker Campus!
Larry is a maker, artist, teacher, and presenter, always looking for new and unique ways to enhance presentations. While working on his M.S. in Teaching and Curriculum, way back in 1997, he wrote a paper on using the new fangled web as a teaching tool. He was laughed at by his professors and fellow students, but now enjoys the last laugh as a global pandemic has moved most classrooms online. These days, Larry conducts meetings, teaches classes, and streams performances almost daily. Larry is best known to the maker community for the large-scale sculpture installations that his studio, Airigami, has created for Maker Faires around the world. He also runs an organization that he founded, Teaching Artists ROC, based in Rochester NY, that connects teaching artists with students and teachers to create unique learning experiences.
